A good stretch is very important before and after your workout. I usually try to stretch for 20 minutes before I workout and a little longer afterwards depending on how tight my muscles are. I have a brief yoga stretch guy which works great for beginners and if you're more advanced, you can take the stretches up a notch.
Try to hold each stretch for 30 seconds or longer and try to repeat them 2-3 times.
